AP Govt Saves Rs 144.8 crore by Reverse Tendering in First phase of Naadu Nedu Scheme

Amaravati, June 3: The meticulous nature of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and his personal interest in the facilities to the students under Nadu Nedu was evident when he personally examined the furniture, blackboard and other material to be used in schools after revamp under Nadu Nedu that was brought to his camp office for inspection.
The Chief Minister had personally seen the furniture, board, water purifier, water filters, cupboards, ceiling fans and other furnishings during the review meeting on Nadu Nedu held here on Wednesday.
In the first phase of Nadu Nedu, 15,715 schools would be revamped with the facilities, including, chalk board, furniture, fans, toilets, running water, painting, compound wall and English Lab.
The State would go a centralized procurement and an estimated Rs 890 crore is required for the material. Tenders were finalized for all items other than that of sanitary ware and Rs 144.8 crore was saved through reverse tendering.
The purchases have begun on a large scale with 3 lakh benches for classes from 1 to 6 and, for classes 7 to 10 2.10 lakh benches were ordered. 89,340 tables and chairs for teachers, 16,334 cupboards, 72,596 green chalk boards and 1,57,150 ceiling fans were ordered.
