Hyderabad, September 6: Hyderabad City Congress Minorities Department Chairman Sameer Waliullah expressed serious doubts over Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao honouring the promise of re-constructing the two mosques in the Secretariat at the same place where they stood before demolition.
Sameer Waliullah, in a media statement on Sunday, said that KCR did not fulfill a single promise which he made with the people, especially the Muslim community, in the last six-and-a-half years. “CM KCR has gained expertise in cheating the Muslims with false promises. He did not honor a single promise so far,” he said.
Listing out some of the failed promises, Sameer Waliullah said that KCR had promised to implement 12% reservation in jobs and education for Muslims within four months after coming to power. Even after six-and-a-half years, the promise has remained unfulfilled and he’s now stopped talking about it. Similarly, he said that the promise of granting judicial powers to the Wakf Board remained unimplemented. Not a single inch of encroached Wakf property was restored under TRS regime. Instead, several prime properties, including the mosques and Ashoorkhanas were demolished in the name of road expansion, he said.
The Congress leader reminded that the Chief Minister had also promised to construct a Rubaat in Ajmer; Construct an Islamic Centre; Develop Dargah Jahangir Peeran at a cost of Rs. 50 crore; Construct a new Haj House and a separate building for Urdu Academy. All these promises are yet to be fulfilled, he said.
“People who still trust CM KCR should look at TRS manifesto for 2014 Assembly elections or browse old speeches to check what was promised and what has been delivered so far. KCR had promised to shift Chanchalguda Jail and Hyderabad Race Club from the Old City and use those properties for educational institutions. Instead, the TRS Govt has shut down over 1,000 government schools and Madarsas in the last six years,” Sameer Waliullah alleged.
The Congress leader feared that CM KCR’s promise of re-constructing Secretariat mosques at the same place would meet the same fate as other promises. He said that KCR’s meeting with a few selected leaders was only aimed at suppressing the ongoing agitation against demolition of Secretariat mosques. “For the second time, KCR has confessed the crime of demolishing the places of worship. We will not keep quiet unless those responsible for illegal demolition are punished by the law,” he announced.
