Amaravati, June 10: Keeping the date with welfare calendar, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy launched the Jagananna Chedodu scheme which provides financial assistance to tailors, barbers and dhobis.
Under the scheme Rs 10,000 was provided to 2.47 lakh beneficiaries by transferring a total amount of Rs 247 crores directly into their bank accounts under unencumbered mode which does not allow the bankers to deduct this amount towards previous loans of the beneficiaries, if any.
We have seen how these sections have suffered during the lockdown. On August 3, when the schools reopen we are giving Vidya Deevena kit which includes three pairs of uniform, shoes, socks, books, bags. We are providing cloth sufficient for three pairs of uniform to the students. There are about 40 lakh students and the tailors will get good work, he said.
During my 3,468 km padayatra I have seen the plight of various sections and as promised to provide financial aid to Backward Classes we have drafted the manifesto to benefit all sections of the people.
After implementing various schemes from Rythu Bharosa, Amma Vodi, Pension Kanuka, Zero rate interest, Vidya Devena, Vasathi Deevena, Vahana Mitra, Nethanna Nestham, Matsyakara Bharosa, we have come to this Chedodu scheme which gives financial assistance to tailors, barbers and dhobis who have shops.
This year itself we have distributed Rs 42, 465 crores to about 3.58 crores beneficiaries. Perhaps such a huge amount was never transferred to the beneficiaries account in this state, he said.
The benefits are being given to these sections on saturation basis, without looking into caste, creed, political affiliation and can be availed to those who did not vote for our Party in the previous election as our motto is that no eligible candidate should be left out.
If some name of eligible candidate is not included in the list, now they can visit the Village/ Ward Secretariat and if they are eligible to avail the scheme, they can apply and the scheme will be extended to them within one week. This government always looks at ways and means to give assistance to people not how to curtail it, he said.
The beneficiaries have thanked the Chief Minister for the financial assistance as they had no income for the entire period of lockdown and lauded the various schemes including Amma Vodi, Vidya Deevana and others.
