Amaravati, July 23: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy ordered officials to start Nadu Nedu initiative in Anganwadi centres to ensure 10 facilities that are being provided in schools, and also focus YSR Sampoorna Poshana to ensure quality food to children.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister conducted a review on nutrition and emphasized on improving the quality of services at Anganwadi centers to benefit women and children. He directed the officials to closely monitor YSR Sampoorna Poshana and ensure nutritious food is being supplied at Anganwadi centers.
The Chief Minister asserted that the activities of Anganwadi Centers should be further strengthened and instructed the officials to divide the current service structure of Anganwadi into two groups. All the services related to pregnant women, lactating mothers, and children aged below 36 months as one group, while the children between 36-72 months age into another group.
With the view that it would be better if pre-primary is included in primary schools, the Chief Minister asked the officials to prepare an action plan after a detailed study on the modalities within 7-10 days. It was also suggested to pay special attention to Pre-Primary-1 and Pre-Primary-2 and their syllabus along with providing a clean environment and equipped with special tools, TV and books for improving learning skills. The Chief Minister also directed the officials to devise a plan as to how best the pre-primary and primary school children are benefited by the program by changing the syllabus accordingly.
Further, the Chief Minister directed the authorities to ensure that Rs 5,000 is provided to women under Aarogya Asara after childbirth, as special financial aid for the health care of mother and child. Currently, there are 55,607 Anganwadi centers in the state out of which 20,957 are being operated in their own space, and the remaining need to get their own buildings.
