Amaravati, July 22: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has tore into the Opposition for creating hurdles in welfare schemes of the government and even for giving house sites to the poor, we have to go the apex Court and said the distribution of house pattas will be on August 15 with the hope that by that time decks would be cleared.
Participating in the 71st Vana Mahotsavam as part of Jagananna Pacha Thoranam at Gajulapeta near Ibrahimpatnam in Krishna district here on Wednesday, the Chief Minister said the Opposition TDP is trying to stall welfare activities through courts and litigations.
Even the welfare programme of distribution of house site pattas to poor was dragged to the court by TDP and we have to approach the Supreme Court.
Hopefully the air will be cleared soon and we will be distributing house site pattas to 30 lakh people on August 15.
While there are 1.48 crore houses in the State, we are providing houses to 30 lakh families which works out to 20 per cent, he said.
The Chief Minister has planted a sapling at the YSR Jagananna colony where 1, 600 persons were allotted house sites in an extent of 33 acres at a cost of Rs 3 crores per acer. The land value works out Rs 5,000 per square. yard.
The beneficiaries were standing at the plots earmarked for them and planted trees in their respective plots. This scene is a delight to eyes, the Chief Minister said.
Under Jagananna Pacha Thoranam 20 crore saplings would be planted across the State. House sites are being allocated within 90 days of applying and 17k layouts were drawn in the 13k Gram panchayat, he said.
Later he administered a pledge for the importance of green cover and growing trees safeguarding them and making proper use of every drop of water.
State Ministers Peddireddy Ramchandra Reddy, Balineni Srinivas Reddy, Kodali Nani, Perni Nani, Government Whip S Udaybhanu and MLAs participated in the function.
