Amaravati, June 29: Ridiculing the TDP claim that Centre has given a clean chit on Polavaram, Minister for Water Resources Anil Kumar Yadav asserted that the State government had not yet submitted the vigilance report on the project works.
Speaking to the media during his visit to Polavaram project on Monday, the Minister said that TDP leaders, with support of their select media, are claiming that there was no corruption in Polavaram and Pattiseema projects through we are yet to submit Vigilance report on the irregularities to the Centre. The Union Ministry clearly stated that the State government didn’t send any report regarding Polavaram, which doesn’t mean giving a clean chit. All the corruption charges against TDP leaders in various irrigation projects will be brought out once the vigilance report is ready. “It was mentioned in the CAG report that Rs 300 crore was swindled during the execution of Pattiseema Project. Even in the Polavaram project, Chandrababu Naidu had awarded tenders through nomination process and looted hundreds of crores of rupees,” he said.
He criticised Naidu for awarding tenders through nomination process to his close associate who quoted an excess amount. He claimed that the reverse tendering for Polavaram project by the YSRCP government yielded good results thereby saving Rs 800 crore. Though Chandrababu Naidu completed only 20 per cent of the Polavaram works, he claimed to have completed 70 per cent of it. Of the total Rs 55,000 crore project, Naidu spent only Rs 17,000 crore and claimed that 70 per cent of the works have been completed. The Minister said that Naidu also neglected the rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R) packages and left the residents in a lurch.
Minister Anil Kumar stated that the YSRC government is going to complete the Polavaram project and dedicate it to the nation soon. He enquired with the officials about the progress of rehabilitation works and said that the government is planning to rehabilitate around 17,000 people this year and also allocated Rs 33,000 crore for the R&R package
