The Telugu Desam Party might be staring at both internal and external crises. The party is unable to retrieve the lost ground and is unable to bring new blood in leadership. Yet, the top brass seem to be disinterested in bringing Junior NTR back into the party. This is evident from the latest statement of thespian-MLA Balakrishna.
When asked as whether the TDP would invite NTR to campaign for the party, Balayya Babu said that it all depends on the dedication of the person concerned. He said NTR still has a lot of career and that there is no question of getting engaged in full-time politics. He said whether to work for the party or not depends on the decision of NTR. He also said that he is juggling between both politics and films. From this statement, it is clear that there are still a lot of reservations to the re-entry of NTR into the TDP. Interestingly, citing the pandemic fears, NTR and his brother have chosen not to go to the NTR mausoleum to pay respects on the latter’s birthday.
NTR has campaigned for the party in the 2009 elections. He toured extensively and spoke to the people at more than 100 assembly constituencies. He drew huge crowds wherever he spoke. However, he could not campaign in the last phase as he suffered a mishap. After that, the TDP leadership, including Chandrababu Naidu preferred not to have him for the campaign.
