Withdrawal of all police complaints against migrant workers

SC orders withdrawal of all police complaints against migrant workers who have been booked for violating lock down norms while attempting to get back home from their work places.

SC asks Centre/States and UTs to identify migrant workers wanting to go home from their workplaces and arrange for their travel. Process for transporting all remaining migrant workers should be complete in 15 days, it says.

SC says Railways will provide Shramik Special trains to the states and UTs within 24 hours of receiving request. Centre had said states have requested for 171 trains only for transporting remaining migrant workers to their homes.

SC asked Centre and state governments to give details of welfare schemes which can be availed by migrant workers.

SC says states and UTs will prepare a complete list of migrant workers who have reached their state and mention the work he was engaged in prior to lockdown. SC asks Centre and states to specify schemes for employment of these migrant workers post-lockdown.

SC asked Centre and States to identify existing schemes which can employ migrant workers who have reached home.

SC asks states and UTs to prepare a list of migrant workers who want to return to their workplaces and asked the governments to provide them with proper counselling before the rejoin work.
