AMARAVATI: Telugu Desam Party former Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao on Wednesday accused the YCP government of looting the NREGS funds in rural areas without any sympathy for creating work opportunities for the poor families.
Uma deplored that in view of the heavy rains, many villages were surrounded by water but the ruling party leaders were not taking any steps for rescuing the marooned residents.
Addressing a press conference here, the TDP leader said the YCP leaders were committing irregularities even in employment guarantee scheme implementation while the poor people were suffering due to lack of work in view of the Coronavirus-induced crisis. It was unfortunate that the required financial assistance was not being given to the poor workers, daily wage coolies and others.
Devineni Uma recalled how the TDP regime had celebrated the birthday of Dr. KL Rao every year. Dr. Rao had made outstanding contributions and stood a huge source of inspiration for the engineers. The farmers would forever remember the services provided by Sir Arthur Cotton, Mokshagundam Visveswarayya and Dr KL Rao.
At a separate press conference, TDP MLC Buddha Venkanna alleged that many suspicions were arising going by the way the fire accidents were happening one by one in Visakhapatnam. He said that YCP MP Vijayasai Reddy was placing an iron grip over the port city and he was being responsible for many scams there.
Mr. Venkanna said that the government was trying to cover up its failure in preventing the industrial mishaps by levelling baseless allegations against former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. The Central government should intervene and take action against the managements of industries which were responsible for the mishaps.
