YCP mad thinking behind oppression: Chandrababu

AMARAVATI: AP Opposition leader and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday clarified to Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy that if the previous TDP regime had also carried out a similar vindictive rule along the lines of YCP’s present regime, then the CM would not have had a chance to even step out of his house considering his track record.
The TDP chief warned the CM that if one Opposition leader was oppressed and silenced, tens and hundreds of such leaders would be born in his place to question the Government’s irrational and unconstitutional agenda.
Addressing a virtual press conference here, Mr. Naidu said that CM Jagan Reddy was obviously in a kind of mad thinking that he would be able to suppress all voices of dissent. False cases and arrests were being made in utter disregard for human rights and also despite the threat of Coronavirus spread. In an inhuman way, Atchannaidu was shifted to jail from hospital in a wheelchair and ambulance even though he was yet to recover from his second surgery. One Opposition activist was called from Hyderabad to appear before the police but when he arrived, he was murdered in cold blood.
Mr. Naidu said that in the last four decades of his political career, he had not seen this lowest degradation of values. Over Rs. 2,000 Cr worth notices were given to intimidate and lure TDP senior leaders. Ex Minister Sidda Raghava Rao was given notice for Rs. 800 Cr which led to his eventual joining the ruling party. Investments worth Rs. 2 lakh Cr have gone back from the state. It was TDP’s progressive policies alone that helped in bringing Kia, Hero Motors, Apollo Tyres, Asian Paints and such big projects in the state. Amaraja Raja Batteries management were the highest tax paying group in AP but they were now facing oppression and political victimisation.
Referring to the global concerns on Coronavirus, Mr. Naidu demanded the YCP government to take responsibility at least now to rescue the people from epidemic threat. AP has no big cities like Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chennai to get exposed to virus infections in a massive way. But, unlike in other Southern States, large-scale Covid cases were reported along with related deaths in Krishna and Kurnool districts. For this, the Jagan Reddy rule should be made accountable for its negligence and irresponsible behaviour from the beginning. Even in Coronavirus time, the YCP gave priority to its greedy mafia activities in sand, liquor, mining, bleaching powder, testing kits, ambulances and what not.
The TDP chief said the Government should immediately announce Rs. 5,000 assistance for the poor families of migrant workers, daily wagers, hawkers and others considering their still financial crisis and near starvation. The Government support was badly needed considering lack of any hope or idea about any immediate recovery from virus infections in view of lack of an effective vaccine or treatment till now. Being an agrarian state, AP was witnessing its farmers in horticulture, aquaculture and poultry facing lots of new challenges. YCP leaders were interested in painting colours on ambulances but actually those colours should be pasted on their faces.
Mr. Naidu said the Centre has given 5 kg rice and one kg dal to poor families towards virus assistance for over eight months but the AP Government has not come forward with any such support. Union Minister Nirmala Sitaraman recently said how the Centre released Rs. 8,000 Cr to AP under the 14th and 15th Finance Commission. All these funds were put to gross misuse with the general public in the state left to their fate. Under Jagan regime, it is like there would be no end to corruption. Now, it released ambulances onto roads after one year while people suffered for lack of health services all these days and a dead body had to be carried in a JCB for lack of ambulance.
