YSRCP suppressing dissenting voices on Covid, Liquor and ration policies cause extreme virus spread, says Nimmala

AMARAVATI: Telugu Desam Party MLA Nimmala Rama Naidu on Thursday slammed the YSRCP Government for ‘neglecting’ setting up of special Covid hospitals to provide adequate beds, oxygen, ventilators and ICUs so that deaths of virus patients can be prevented.

Rama Naidu expressed concern that the ruling party was just taking eyewash measures like changing existing general hospitals as Covid centres but not creating exclusive facilities to deal with the dangerous disease with the seriousness it requires.

Addressing a press conference here, the TDP leader deplored that not a single exclusive Covid hospital was developed in Andhra Pradesh since the outbreak. No efforts were made to provide additional staff, doctors, beds, etc. On the other hand, the whole focus of the Chief Minister and the Ministers was on launching attacks and filing false cases against whoever raises a dissenting voice against the government’s negligence. People are comparing this to how former CM Chandrababu Naidu rushed from Hyderabad to Vijayawada and then to Rajahmundry from where he went to Visakhapatnam to rescue the city from Hudhud cyclone damage.

Rama Naidu said that the common man was feeling that if the TDP was in ruling, it would have taken good care of their interests and there would a greater confidence and trust in the united fight against the dreaded virus. It was unfortunate that the YSRCP regime was fully busy with unlawful activities like avoiding the Governor’s directive to reinstate Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar as the State Election Commissioner. The CM’s only focus was how to get the Legislative Council abolished and how to get the Capital City Bills passed in spite of the severe Constitutional violations involved in the process.

The TDP MLA deplored that the Government’s policies on liquor and ration were proving dangerous as the crowds at these shops were acting as super spreaders of the infections. While men were getting virus infections at liquor shops, women were falling victim due to lack of physical distancing at the ration shops. The government’s revenue from liquor sales was coming down but the CM’s J-tax collections were coming to nearly Rs. 25,000 Cr at the rate of Rs. 5,000 Cr per year.

Rama Naidu said that the ruling party activities in the field level were absolutely low to protect lives of people from Coronavirus. Half-cooked and tasteless food was served at isolation centres. Pregnant women were having a tough time for lack of services at both Government and private hospitals. The Government was not releasing Rs. 15,000 as promised towards the funeral expenses of Covid victims. The ruling party leaders were telling all lies on the implementation of the CM’s promises.
